Symbolism

Shield. Yellow and brick red are the colors traditionally associated with the Transportation Corps. The three piles culminating together over the yellow background resemble a road in perspective. The road, seen from the point of view of a Motor Transport Operator, refers to the unit's motto, Drive to Victory. Indicative of the sky on the horizon line above the road, the blue color of the chief also suggests the units tradition of providing mobility to the 28th Infantry Division. The arrowhead is used to identify the units assignment to Indiantown Gap, and serves as a symbol of strength and preparedness. The three cart-wheels placed in a row upon the chief recall the three plates on William Penns coat of arms, as a tribute to the battalions home state of Pennsylvania. The wheels are adapted from the Transportation Corps insignia and pay homage to the early Pennsylvania waggoneers and Conestoga wagons that paved the way for modern day transportation methods.
